Persuasive Project (Monday 9/29/2008)

Today you will be selecting a topic to research and create an outline. This is a persuasive project that will consist of three parts. For now we will only be focusing on the outline. Latter in the semester you will be creating a PowerPoint and speech on this topic, so assure you choose a topic that you are truly interested in.
Tasks
1. Click Here For a list of possible topics (Browse this list to find a topic you are interested in)
2. Post the topic of your choice on the pagecast message board, in a complete sentence. 
3. Start a new word document save as "sources" Using your search skills start to do some research on your chosen topic. DO NOT TAKE ANY NOTES YET. Find some sources that you feel are good sources and paste the URL in to your word document.
4. After you have done some research on your topic try to come up with the three sub topics for your chosen issue.
Example- Three reasons why you should Mountain Bike.
1. Keeps you in good health.
2. Lot's of  opportunity for ridding while living in Montana.
3.  Spend time outdoors
Again by the end of the period you should have posted your topic on the message board, have a word document with at least 5 sources that you think are good sources, and brainstormed three sub points that will support your stance. See example above.
Tuesday we will be discussing how to evaluate sources.

Directions for Tuesday 09/23/08

Columns and Sections
Today's' assignment you will be working with columns and sections. 

Follow the directions on the sheet. You will need to use section and column breaks. 

Section Breaks- (insert continuous section breaks)
Column Breaks- Sends you to the top of the next column
Columns- Formant- Columns- and choose the number of columns you want.

Review for Wednesdays test
All table functions from Mondays assignment.

Directions for Monday 9/22/08

Tables-
Watch the video first


I ran out of time on my recording the only thing I did not get to is merging cells which you should know how to do. Please save the documents as "Tables" all four tables will be in the same document. 

Objectives - By the end of this assignment you should be able to perform the following tasks.
-add borders and coloring to tables
-Insert rows in to tables
- Able to use auto sum function
-Merge Cells
Your Class will have a Test on Wednesday over tables, Columns, and Sections. I will post a review list for tomorrow.

Directions for Monday 9/15 and Tuesday 9/16

Monday
1. If you did not finish the "Summer Camps" task Friday you will need to finish it first. 
2. We will now be starting two new tasks. In the shared folder there is a video called "letterhead&Formatting".
3. Get headphones from the closet, the "Then Do" sheet from lectern, and open the word file titled "Then do" from the shared folder before you watch the video.
Monday's Assignments
1. Calendar
2. save as "Personal Letterhead"
3. save as "Then Do " 

Tuesday Tables
Today you will be working on another video tutorial. In the shared folder find the video titled "tables".  Stop: before you watch the video get headphones from the closet and the resume sheet from the lectern. 

Tuesday's Assignments 
1. save as "resume" 
2. save as "application"

We will probably finish up "application" on Wednesday. If you have any questions or problems please post in the comments for this post.

Trivia Newsletter

You are to create a newsletter that covers random trivia facts about a topic of your choice. Your news letter must be at least four pages. You must make use of the various tasks we have covered thus far in class.

Grading will consist of…….

Layout: did you customize your newsletter or simply use the pre-loaded layout? Did you make use of design gallery objects, photos, clip art, Drop Cap.

Content: Is your content relevant and well organized. Your content should be easy for the reader to navigate.

Work Cited: On the back page of your news letter you must cite the web pages you use to obtain your information. This can be just a simple list of the URLs.


Your Newsletter must include the following features
  • Word Art
  • Formated Pictures 
  • Drop Caps
  • Design Gallery Objects
  • Auto Shape
  • Original design template in the top right corner of first page
  • Formated Text Boxes (border, fill etc.)
  • Work Cited must be hyperlinked
